Les and I planted the vineyard in 1997-1999, inspired by a strong thirst for Shiraz (“let’s make some ourselves”) and by so many of our neighbours, who remembered how good the fruit was on this property.

THE TIMES THE PHILOSOPHY. But most of all, what inspired us were the times. There was a window of opportunity at all level ( from Rob O’C who used, and taught and inspired people to use simple none industrial methods of winemaking ( open vat fermenters, basket press, ) For us it romoved the glass ceiling 5 to mix metaphors), that you had to be a mumtimillion dollar cooperation with stainless steel, expertise capital …….. you could simply make premium wine in your back yard, with the simpest equipment a tonne of good fruit.
